ASL
Hello there!
Growing up in a large family taught me the importance of connection and being deeply understood. As a teenager, I dual enrolled at NWFSC and discovered the beauty of ASL and the visual world, I also saw a desperate need for competent interpreting providers within the Deaf community; a fire was lit inside me. Upon graduation, I transferred to Troy University to pursue American Sign Language interpretation and had the honor of working with various Deaf and hearing professors, mentors, and friends who challenged me in my pursuit of excellence in linguistic ability and cultural understanding. In May of 2021 I graduated with a B.S. in ASL/English Interpretation. I have worked as an interpreting provider primarily in K-12 settings ever since. My experience has led me to work with a wide variety of clientele from Pre-K to college age (even beyond!), with various linguistic needs, abilities, and deficits, across a range of subjects- math, science, English, literature, daily life and basic conversational skills.
I am passionate about linguistic development and bilingual acquisition (ASL and English) for Deaf/HoH students. I enjoy working together to build English skills as well as supporting their growth in other subject areas identified by the student and their parent. I can conduct these sessions directly in ASL.
I am also deeply committed to paying it forward and am excited to work with students as we learn ASL and discover the beauty of fostering connection and a deeper understanding of humanity through language along the way. These sessions are typically conducted in a combined ASL and English approach depending on student need and ability.
